Wee little pocket diaper review

So I bought one bumgenius 4.0 diaper yesterday. It was on sale, and I had reward points from my favorite diaper retailer www.happybabycompany.com . So I got a good quality cloth diaper with 2 inserts for $11 delivered free the next day! I washed it this afternoon and put it on M-girl who peed in it immediately. Then she wanted it off to use the potty. She threw the new cloth diaper into the toilet, thus ending our trial run with a new brand of cloth diaper! I think I'll always like the fit and quality of our Fuzzibunz better, but I figured it was worth finding out if we were missing out on anything! I definitely prefer the fabric textures, the fit and look of the FBs on M. The inserts seem to be of nicer quality for my FBs as well. I think that these differences explain the $2/diaper price gap between the two similar products.

As for the absorbency and leak resistance, we'll have to wait for the next diaper laundry day and hope that she doesn't go dunking her diaper stash!

  1. Do you use the FB perfect size or one size diapers? Is there a big dference? Also how many FB diapers do you have/recommend having? Doing more research on them since we are getting bigger and getting close to using our baby shower disposable diaper stash. :) and Craig is realizing how expensive disposables will be for us now and for future kids. Speaking of, how are yours holding up? Do you think they will last for your next one?

  2. I have 21 one-size diapers, which is a weird name because they're the adjustable ones. I started M off in prefolds and covers but didn't really like them as she got to 14 months. I bought the FBs OS for about $15 each new because of some great sales! We made the switch just as we moved, and the diapers got a bit funky within a month because of our hard water here. I worked on that and got advice from FBs about how to fix it, and it worked. Only problem? They worded it as if this was the every wash routine, and it's too harsh, so it did prematurely wear out some diapers. Sounds terrible, right? Except that their one year warranty has replaced 14 of them. The rest are fine and don't stink. Long story, but they stand behind their product! I'll help you troubleshoot later if you need it!

If I were starting with my first, I'd probably buy the perfect size diapers in 12 of each if I knew we'd be committed to using them. They're cheaper and they fit nicely, and they'd each be worn more gently than the OS, which are worn for 2-3 years straight!

  3. Update #1 on the bumgenius diaper: I think I hate this diaper. I put it on M-girl for her nap with 2 inserts. She napped for 3 hours, then went #2. Not only did the diaper leak #2 at the legs (which fit fine), it did not rinse out well in the toilet like my FBs do. After the next laundry day, we'll see if it stains and give it another run. Glad I got it cheap!

  4. Do you have a diaper sprayer or do you soak in toilet?

  5. We don't have a sprayer because the Jedis would use it to make the bathroom into a water park! A quick swish gets the job done all right, but if I didn't have a house full of pesky people, I'd have one!
