The Crowded Kitchen of Love and Noise

There's always someone underfoot in the crowded kitchen! Jedis, Nubby, Baby E, and the pitifully foolish Mutt keep life entertaining. Herein lies the chronicle of our life, at least what I can hastily thumb-type on my iPod while someone empties the toilet onto the floor. It's crunchy here, but mostly about having fun and being okay with not being perfect. God loves me anyway!

After 16 years as a couple and 14 years of marriage,

I still really love my husband. In fact, I love this man more than ever. I feel so blessed that school, financial pressure, and the quotidian insanity of life with small children have only pushed us closer. He's another reason to revel in God's goodness toward me!

Our four sweet blessings keep us busy, make us better, and give our life so much meaning!

Kind words about my blog

"I read your blog faithfully and while I'll never manage to make yogurt, laundry soap, or use cloth diapers, the heart of your posts always sounds like our home."

Sounds good to me! JO

A guide to A-man's language

  • West Birginia - where we live now and can have a dog
  • the Billage - where we lived before, a reference point for all places and events because he lived there for 5 years. Everything is "before, when we lived at the Billage..." or "when we went back to visit the Billage...", e.g. a warm place in his heart
  • glombery - describes the contents of an uncooked egg
  • cracky - describes the shell and contents of a hard-boiled egg, as opposed to a "glombery egg"
  • beautiful/gorgeous - Momma when A-man wants something
  • reverent - communion wine, e.g. "I can smell the reverent!"
  • stinky - definition is obvious, but this is not always a bad thing. Stinky cheese and stinky feet are great! Another compliment to feet is that they smell like "real soup"
  • Pingu - a stuffed Ty soft penguin, who turns himself into a ball if you don't have fish for him, a gift from Mom-Mom
  • spicy - describes anything very minty, carbonated, or genuinely spicy, definitely not a good thing
  • nub - his nickname for his younger sister
  • pushy bread - bread that is soft enough to push your finger through without making a hole, definitely preferred
